| HDB develops natural
products and natural compounds from various Chinese
herbs in order to screen novel leads for new drugs.
Since its incorporation, the company has made great
efforts and has used state-of-the-art techniques to
build HTS-compatible natural compound libraries. These
compounds are managed with an in-house database. The
samples have been tested through a strict quality-control
process. All of the data are systematically documented.
The backup samples are stocked for future reference.
Each sample will be able to provide more than a thousand
normal screens. The products are available for licensing
to our partners and for sale to our customers. |
|
| There are two major
forms of natural products: the extracts from thousands
of Chinese herbs with clear therapeutic indications,
and the compound libraries consisting of HPLC fractionated
samples. |

Herbs and herbal extracts |
| Chinese herbs have
historically been used in the practice of traditional
Chinese medicine. Many of them have been shown to
be effective in clinical therapy. It is widely believed
that these natural herbs provide rich resources for
drug hits and leads. At present, HDB has over a thousand
Chinese herbs in its collection. All of the herbs
have been verified and sorted by top specialists and
professors from the Beijing University of Traditional
Chinese Medicine. Detailed information, such as production
area, Latin genus name, characteristics, and main
chemical ingredients, is available for all of them. |
|
| The herbal extracts
were prepared using our proprietary techniques, and
production can be further increased. All samples are
stored as lyophilized powder. More than a thousand
herb extracts are available from stock. |

Natural compound library |
| At HDB, modern chemistry
approaches have been applied to the preparation of
natural products. The herbal extracts were fractionated
using HPLC. A standard, time-based sixteen fractionations
were collected for each extract. The collected samples
were lyophilized and stored in 96-well sample plates
and are ready for use in high-throughput screening.
The samples are managed under an in-house database.
Quality control data for our natural compound library
are also available. |

Natural compound library - Therapeutic focused sub-libraries |
| Based on pharmacology
and the theories of traditional Chinese medicine,
HDB has classified all herbs and sorted the extracts
and fractionated samples into twelve therapeutic focused
libraries that facilitate the screening for various
interests. The number of samples in each focused library
ranges from eight hundred to up to two thousands.
Ideally, they can be used for drug targets with well-established
disease mechanism. These focused libraries are listed
as follows: |
|
| Anti-virus
